Korn Ferry Talent Q Test: Format and How to Practice Free

Reviewed: October 2026

Talent Q is Korn Ferry's line of aptitude tests, with the Elements battery (more demanding, used at supervisory level and above) and Aspects (high-volume screening). They include numerical, verbal, logical and checking reasoning, and they are adaptive; to prepare, practice reading tables and passages quickly and completing symbol sequences, and confirm in your invitation which tests and timings apply to you.

What Talent Q is and how it relates to Korn Ferry

Talent Q was an assessment consultancy that is now part of Korn Ferry. Its tests are still used in hiring, especially at large companies and graduate programs.

Korn Ferry explains that employers use its assessments to measure personality, ability, competencies and motivation. Aptitude tests are only one part of a broader process.

Tests and format

Korn Ferry's official candidate guide describes four cognitive tests. Exact timings are not listed there, and the figures in circulation come from old technical documents and practice sites, so treat them as indicative.

  • Checking: compare two tables quickly and accurately and decide whether the information matches.
  • Numerical: analyze statistical data in tables or charts and make decisions from it.
  • Verbal: understand written business information and decide based on scenarios.
  • Logical: identify patterns by completing symbol sequences that have a missing element.
  • Aspects: a 2017 psychometric review cites about 8 minutes for verbal, about 10 for numerical and about 6 for checking, with questions grouped in threes that share background information.
  • Elements: third-party sources disagree; some say about 15 minutes per test and others 75 to 90 seconds per question. We could not confirm it from an official source.

What each part measures

The tests are adaptive, according to Korn Ferry's own technical documentation: difficulty adjusts to your answers, so you do not choose a level in advance.

  • Numerical: reading tables and charts, percentages, ratios and conclusions based on the data.
  • Verbal: understanding business texts and judging statements from what the text says.
  • Logical: working out the rule that governs a sequence of shapes or symbols.
  • Checking: attention to detail and speed when comparing information.

How to practice here

The app offers exercises in a style inspired by these skills and a timed mock exam. They are not Talent Q questions and do not copy its interface.

  • Data interpretation: tables and charts with quick questions.
  • Verbal reasoning: short passages and judging statements.
  • Figural series: the best training for the logical sequence test.
  • Attention to detail: a base for the checking test.
  • What the app does not replicate: the adaptive format or the layout of Talent Q's question blocks.

Test-day strategy

  • Check your invitation for which battery you got (Elements or Aspects) and do the free practice Korn Ferry offers for each of the four areas.
  • Read what is being asked first, then look for the data; in long tables, locate only the rows and columns you need.
  • Since some question blocks share data, reuse what you already read for the following questions.
  • Have pencil, paper and, if the invitation allows, a calculator; do not assume one is built in.
  • If a question stalls you, give your best estimate and move on; you probably cannot go back, though we could not confirm that from an official source.

Common mistakes

  • Preparing from one website's figures without checking your invitation.
  • On the checking test, going so fast that small differences between tables slip by.
  • Answering verbal questions with your own knowledge instead of what the text says.
  • Practicing only without a clock.

Frequently asked questions

Which tests does Korn Ferry Talent Q include?

Korn Ferry's official guide describes four cognitive tests: checking, numerical, verbal and logical. Elements and Aspects are the two batteries that group them, and your employer chooses which to use.

How long is the Talent Q test?

It depends on the battery and the tests chosen. For Aspects, a 2017 technical document cites about 6 to 10 minutes per test. For Elements, third-party data conflicts, so confirm the timing in your invitation.

Is Talent Q adaptive?

Yes, according to Korn Ferry's Aspects technical documentation and most third-party guides: difficulty adjusts to your answers.

Can you practice for free?

Yes. Korn Ferry offers free practice for each of the four areas in its candidate guide, and here you can train the skills with similar-style exercises and a timed mock exam.

What score do I need?

There is no public score. Your result is compared with a reference group and each employer sets its own criterion, which is also combined with other evidence from the process.
